Offline RPGs worth your storage space

Offline RPGs worth your storage space

March 2, 2026 · Lukas Feldmann

Finding an RPG that genuinely plays offline is harder than it should be. So many mobile RPGs bolt on a login and daily server checks that make them useless the moment you lose signal. The good ones store everything on device and let you just play.

Ember Vale Chronicles tops our list right now. It has a real narrative arc, a party you shape over time, and combat that asks you to think. Fifteen hours in and I still hadn't seen everything.

What separates a good offline RPG from a great one is respect for your time. No energy meters, no waiting to act. Look for games that save your progress locally and never punish you for going dark.

My advice: check the store page and reviews for the word 'offline' explicitly, then test it in airplane mode the day you install. If it complains, uninstall and move on. There are enough good ones out there.
