Strategy games without the constant countdowns

Strategy games without the constant countdowns

A lot of mobile strategy is built to keep you tethered, with buildings that take hours and push notifications begging you back. Offline strategy games flip that. You play when you want, for as long as you want.

Iron Frontier Command is a good example. It's a base-and-army game with a real campaign, but there are no real-time timers. You make your moves, the AI makes its, and you can put it down whenever.

The trade-off is that these games ask more of you upfront. There's no drip-feed of tiny rewards, so the fun has to come from the actual decisions. For me that's the whole point.

If you've bounced off mobile strategy because it felt like a chore, try one that's fully offline and turn-based. It feels much closer to a proper strategy game and less like a chore list.
